Shelving, Inc. is very proud to announce receiving a commendation for outstanding customer service as an online retailer. Unlike many awards in our social-media saturated society, this was not a prize based on popularity. We have earned this recognition after being evaluated on over 350 metrics from the ordering process to shipping products timely, all the while keeping our customers informed of their order status, answering questions and overcoming obstacles when necessary. For this, and many more reasons, we have been awarded the STELLA Service Seal of Excellence. Not just a pun on stellar service, STELLA Service is a brand that is rapidly growing in an effort to create transparency for customers that shop online. It is an independent evaluating agency that researches how businesses operate from customer to customer. By posing as an anonymous customer, they experience the buying process online with an eye out for service that goes above and beyond. Looking at several factors including FAQ pages, means of contacting the business, and how quickly questions get answered, STELLA scores a business on their ability to provide to the customer.

Keep Files Together – Keep all files relating to a given tax year together in one spot. This makes it easy to find what you need when you need it. Often times, tax archives are only referenced in the event of an audit. If you are audited, it is much less stressful when everything you need is all in one place. Label – Clearly label all files, including the file drawer, portable storage box, or bankers box where you are storing the files. In addition to the description of the contents, you should include a destroy after date. This will make it easy to know when the contents can be shredded without having to sort through them again years from now. Labeling your files and boxes now will only make it easier for you to retrieve later when you need to access the documents. Store Out of the Way – Don’t store your tax archives in your prime office space. What I mean by that is store these files out of the way somewhere else.. It could be in the least accessible file drawer or cabinet in your office, or maybe even outside of your office in a storage room or offsite storage facility. This will ensure that you are not using your valuable working space for files that you access infrequently. Follow these three easy tips to make your tax time more organized and less stressful. If you need any assistance on designing a storage system please feel free to contact one of our representatives. - The Shelving Guy

Thanks to a new Tax initiatives, there’s a temporary change in deductible expenses happening that benefits customers only if used in 2011.If you’re shopping the market for shelving, buy now! Get your plans in action because, if the shelving is a capital expense and if the shelving is installed and in use by December 31, 2011, the new law can be extremely advantageous if you’re to reduce your tax payments to the IRS. Under the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010 tax law, Shelving, Inc. customers may use 100 percent of their federal tax deductible up front in 2011, instead of smaller annual deductions spread out over the life of the product.
So if one of our customers purchases and installs $10,000 of brand new shelving in 2011, the customer will be able to deduct 100 percent of the capital expense from their taxes. If the customer waits until next year to purchase and install $10,000 of brand new shelving in 2012, that customer will be able to deduct only 50 percent of the capital expense from their taxes.
Here is a in depth example:
2011
$10,000 shelving capital purchase. The IRS allows a 100 percent deduction in 2011. That $10,000 at the corporate tax rate of 35 percent saves the customer $3,500 paid to the IRS in 2011. $10,000 purchase price, less $3,500 saved in taxes, leaves an indirect cost of only $7,500!
2012
$10,000 shelving capital purchase. The IRS allows only a 50 percent deduction. That 50 percent ($5,000) at the corporate tax rate of 35 percent saves the customer $1,750 in taxes paid to the IRS. The balance of the $5,000 deduction is spread out over, perhaps 20 years (the life of the asset).

Mezzanines became very popular in the mid 1940′s as the manufacturing was ramping up after the war. These steel structures were typically a “partial story between two main stories of a building.” In other words, they were erected above the main floor and below the roof of existing buildings in order to store goods. Today, mezzanines are used primarily for storage, but continue to pick up pace as “work platforms” in plants. When considering adding a second floor to your facility, proper planning up front regarding you current and future needs will result in the right solution, and the right price. Below are some items you should familiarize yourself with.
Design
• Span: Is column placement important? Twenty feet is a good rule of thumb. • Deflection: Also known as the horizontal sway or vertical “bounce” of the mezzanine- this is important to understand when shopping. • Flexibility: Do you require a standard design or custom? Free Standing or Rack/shelf supported? • Seismic: Are you in a seismic zone? Most mezzanine applications are non-seismic but your provider can indicate if you are in an area that requires a seismic mezzanine. Codes Permits and Certification Application Accessories Installation These are items that will need to be discussed with your mezzanine provider prior to purchase. If shopping around for a suitable manufacturer/dealer, make sure you understand the differences between the choices mentioned above.
Please feel free to contact us if you have a specific question about a mezzanine to make your work space work harder for you. We’re happy to help to make your project a great success.

Installed where steel lockers 12″w x 18″d x 72″h with continuous sloped hoods, recessed stainless steel handles, with hard rock maple benches and steel pedestals to match the color of the lockers. Installation was completed over a weekend so the school could have use of the locker room on Monday morning. The sloped hoods we installed will keep a clean appearance in the locker room and prevent students from storing things on top of the lockers. The slopes provide easy maintenance too as less dust collects when using sloped hoods and cleaning is a breeze. The end result was a stylish shiny new locker room ready to withstand years and years of student use!

Since 2006, Blessed Hope Mission has been serving the needs of the homeless and economically challenged community in Lincoln Park and the surrounding area. River Rouge, Ecorse, Melvindale, Allen Park, Taylor and Southwest Detroit are also served by the Mission. No one, regardless of their location, income level or faith background is turned away from receiving food or basic necessities. The Mission feeds two (2) meals per day, Monday through Saturday, and one (1) dinner meal on Sunday. These are usually hot meals. Food is prepared and brought in by a variety of churches, catering leftovers and food product donations. In addition to the meals, the Mission also services several families every month with food boxes. Besides the need for nutritional food, there is a real need for emotional support, help in finding long-term resources, and encouragement to keep going. Many of our clients are mentally or emotionally challenged and have a need for interaction with others. Senior citizens comprise another small component of our clients. The Mission does not charge for any of its services, and provides rides to doctors and so on if other transportation is not available. Counseling referrals, medical care referrals, community service opportunities and monitoring are also part of the program.Blessed Hope Mission is supported by donations from private individuals, churches, merchants and other organizations. There is no grant or government funding for the program. It is affiliated with Blessed Hope Christian Church. The Mission is also partnering with others to open a free health care clinic. Other than socks, hats, scarves, gloves, and sometimes shoes, the Mission cannot be a clothing recipient due to building constraints. However, we utilize two storage units for furniture, large and small appliance, computers and such merchandise that is donated. Even the Salvation Army in Wyandotte, MI has utilized us as a source of help for families burned out, and so on. |
