While a lot of the U.S. has experienced a mild winter over the past few months, this past week has finally taken us into freezing temperatures we were hoping to avoid. Metro Detroit received their first snowfall of the season, and temperatures have been below 10 degrees for most of each day.

While the idea of several feet of snow and frigid air may sound cold and inconvenient, we do need to realize that it will become a big part of our year. So, what do you do when it snows several feet or becomes cold enough to leave you stuck at home? After stocking up with all of the essentials needed to be safe, the best way to tough it out and stay entertained is to take advantage of it! Hey, you don’t have to go to school, and maybe even work! Hey, your backyard is a giant fridge! Why not make use of it? Build furniture and shelves out of snow!

We are hoping to add snow shelves to our inventory in the very near future.

You know a couch is comfortable when your butt starts to go numb.

We may have ended an evening asleep on a lawn once or twice in our lives, but why not start it there instead?

I love what you’ve done with the place. You may want to run a vacuum over that rug, though.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of frostbite danced in their heads.

These guys are taking couch surfing to the next level.

I can’t figure out if this is a bar or a bunker. Either way, I’m impressed with how secure the orange juice is.

These snowmen don’t look old enough to drink, let alone do shots.

This is a surprise house guest I wouldn’t mind showing up at my door.

Stay safe and warm, everyone!
