You may have noticed the symbol below on a shelf you own and wondered what this “NSF” stood for. A brand? A government agency? A meaningless string of letters? Read on to find out more about what NSF means to you. 1. NSF is a certification, not a brand. Shelves that are approved by the National Sanitation Foundation will bear the circular symbol, making it easily mistaken for a brand logo. 2. NSF stands for National Sanitation Foundation. Founded in 1944, the organization’s goal is to protect and improve global human health by developing standards and testing products for safety. The NSF is an independent and accredited organization. 3. NSF-approved means the shelving is safe for use in sensitive industries such as food and medicine. To be NSF-approved, a product must undergo extensive testing and material analysis to ensure that it is completely safe for these important fields. 4. NSF is not a life-long certification NSF-approved products must also pass annual unannounced inspections to keep the certification. If the product ever fails to meet one of these standards, the NSF is proactive about taking actions to protect the consumer through recalls and public notification. 5. NSF Shelving comes in many varieties, including wire, plastic, and aluminium We’re proud to say our own SI-branded industrial wire shelving is NSF approved. I have two 3 foot shelving units (white) and it looks like they stack but the legs don’t fit together – however, there are threads on the inside of the leg pipes – so I was wondering, do you sell threaded connectors that would allow two 3 foot units to be stacked?
Thanks.
Michael
Hi Michael,
You can try using our Post Extension Kit to connect all of the posts, however it may not work with all brands of shelving. It is designed to work with Shelving Inc’s.
Hope that helps!
THANK YOU for this — I thought NSF was a brand … oops.
I’m just checking to make sure that I can add a set of 14” posts (SIPOST-SET) and a 14” by 36” SI shelf (SI-S1436C) to the top of the Shelf Tech System 4-shelf set that I bought from Lowes last year?
In other words, will Shelf Tech System parts and SI parts work together?
Many thanks!
Wynne
Hi Wynne, Generally we suggest not combining multiple brands as the sizing of shelves isn’t always exact and they will not fit onto posts properly. Our shelves run a quarter of an inch smaller than the actual size listed, and you can see a size guide here: http://www.shelving.com/Articles.asp?ID=333
OK, thanks!
Can you tell me if your post connectors will fit Alera brand posts?
